Headteacher's Welcome

A warm welcome to our fabulous school!

East Prescot Nursery School is a place like no other. Founded in 1947, we are proud of our reputation for providing the very best education for every single child.  Our children and families are at the centre of everything we do, which is why generations of families return to us.

We are a Liverpool Maintained Nursery School (MNS), rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted for almost a quarter of a century, in recognition of our pursuit of excellence. Children blossom and thrive here, making exceptional progress in their learning and development.

Our highly-qualified staff have the experience, knowledge and expertise to deliver our ambitious curriculum. We know that highest quality teaching is what makes the greatest difference to children’s lives; that is why maintained nursery schools are so important.

Our Headteacher, qualified classroom teachers and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) work together to deliver a school curriculum that promotes excellence and enjoyment. Our most recent Ofsted inspection judged our provision to be Outstanding across all areas, with no areas for improvement.

"This is a fabulous nursery school. Children are extremely happy. They develop high levels of independence and many skills that they need for their lives now and in the future. The school fulfils its values and its aim of giving children the 'Roots to grow and the wings to fly'."

Our aim is for children to become confident, self-motivated learners, developing the skills and attitudes to achieve and succeed. We do this by providing irresistible learning opportunities, through magical first-hand experiences and high-quality interactions.

"Children behave very well. They feel very safe. They tell adults if they feel something is wrong." (Ofsted, 2019)

Underpinning our early years provision is the nurturing of children’s personal, social and emotional development. We believe that children learn best when they are happy and secure and have formed a trusting relationship with their adults in school.

"Reading is at the heart of the curriculum and is a high priority for the school. The aim behind the whole curriculum is to give children the language and vocabulary that they need for the future." (Ofsted, 2019)

Our highly inclusive curriculum has been skilfully designed in a progressive and sequential manner.  This ensures that, over time, every single child develops the skills, knowledge, attitudes and learning behaviours to prepare them for the next stage of their education. We believe that our role here is to give children the roots to grow, by building firm foundations for lifelong learning.

We actively promote the fundamental values of British life: the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect of those with different faiths or beliefs. For our young children, this begins with learning to play with others, taking turns and sharing; learning right from wrong; understanding that they have a voice that is listened to and can make choices that are respected; the promotion of positive views within the nursery school and wider community and the challenging of stereotypes through positive role models and discussion.

Children and families are central to our mission. We are committed to working in partnership to meet the needs of every child. We are united in our pursuit of excellence and enjoyment in early years education:

  • every experience
  • every child
  • every moment.
